Corpus is a large group of documents like a computer data, who is in charge of analize the language and everything that is related to the language. Corpus was created to analyze and study the frequency of each word, also this show us the common words and what we should learn and teach.
This means that corpus help us to know which are the most used words in a native country.
Some textbooks are based in what corpus says, this means that some textbooks include the common and frequent words. One example of this is the dictionary which is changing and adding new words and information.
I believe that it is very important to know which are the frequent words and how is better to use them (like: writing and speaking, or formal and informal) because we must know and teach words that native speakers use in their daily life. Moreover we need to have the tools for a better communication. Now in my classes I will be using frequent words, because I think that every teacher in each school should be informed about what is corpus and teach new vocabulary and the most important is teach the most used words.
Chilean teachers should use it because that makes the english easier and real for us. We will learn common words and not old fashion words. That will help us to have a real and normal fluent conversation with native speakers.
